What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy continues to be the top choice in treatments for eliminating spider veins. Dr. Giancarlo Piano has nearly 30 years of experience treating spider veins, varicose veins, and a wide range of vascular diseases. The sclerotherapy procedure involves injections of a saline solution, which causes them to seal together and eventually collapse from view entirely. Blood is rerouted through healthy veins nearby and any symptoms that accompanied the spider veins typically dissipate after treatment.
- Minimally invasive procedure that has helped many patients say “Goodbye” to unsightly and painful spider veins for good
- Minimal discomfort, requires no anesthesia
- Efficient and effective treatment for spider veins
- Fast recovery rates
Patients may require more than one session of sclerotherapy to achieve desired results. Patients will see spider veins begin to disappear in approximately four to eight weeks, with full results around four to six months after treatment. Results vary from patient to patient, based on the severity of the vascular condition. Walking is highly encouraged to promote healthy blood flow through the other veins and aid the healing process. Normal activities may be resumed right away, although Dr. Piano advises his patients to refrain from strenuous exercise for a day or two.
Is Sclerotherapy covered by my insurance?
Some medical insurance companies cover this procedure when it is medically necessary. This is determined by your insurance company when we submit your information for pre-determination. Sclerotherapy for strictly cosmetic reasons is usually not covered.
